Managing Blog Posts
ClearCMS includes a built-in blog. You can write posts, organize them, and publish when you are ready.
Opening the blog editor
In the left sidebar, click Posts (or Blog). This opens your post list. You will see all your posts -- published, drafted, and archived.
Writing a new post
Click New Post. The blog editor opens with:
- A large writing area in the center for your content
- A right panel for post settings (metadata)
Type your post title at the top, then write your content below it.
Formatting text
Use the formatting toolbar that appears when you select text:
- Bold, italic, underline
- Headings (H2, H3)
- Bullet lists and numbered lists
- Links — select text and click the link icon, then paste a URL
- Images — click the image icon to insert a photo into the post body
Post settings (right panel)
The right panel holds the details for the post:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Author | Who wrote the post |
| Published date | When it appears as published |
| Tags | Categorize posts; readers can filter by tag |
| Featured image | The main image shown in post listings and social shares |
| Excerpt | A short summary shown in listings and search results |
| SEO title | A custom title shown in search results (leave blank to use the post title) |
| SEO description | A short description shown in search results |
Tags group your posts by topic. Visitors can filter by tag to find related posts. Use consistent names -- for example, always use "Tutorial" rather than mixing "tutorial" and "Tutorials."
Draft vs. published
New posts start as drafts. They are saved but not visible to visitors.
When you are ready, click Publish in the top bar. The post goes live right away (or on the scheduled date if you set one).
To unpublish a post, open it and click Unpublish. It returns to draft status.
For more about the draft/publish workflow, version history, and rolling back changes, see Publishing & Versions.
Editing an existing post
Click the post title in the post list to open it. Make your changes and click Save or Publish.
Deleting a post
In the post list, hover over a post and click the three-dot menu, then select Delete. Deleted posts cannot be recovered. If you want to hide a post without deleting it, unpublish it instead.
Ordering posts
Posts are ordered by published date, newest first. Change the published date in the right panel to reorder posts in your blog listing.
Always set a featured image for your posts. It appears in post listings and shows when someone shares your post on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn. See the SEO Guide for tips on social previews.
